Info for Visitors

One of the things you’ll notice first about Northwest Community is the warm, welcoming atmosphere. We are proud of the strong faith community we have and look forward to having visitors join us.

Dress is casual. We have members who like to put on their “Sunday best” and others who feel just as comfortable coming to worship services as a “t-shirt and jeans” kind of person.

The worship service is from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a refreshment time. From 9:00 a.m. to noon, nursery care is provided for little ones to age 4. Children and teens remain for the entire service. After the Welcome and Greet Your Neighbors, we have a Wonder Box experience  where children and teens are invited to come forward as the storyteller opens the Wonder Box, and they each reveal an item that will help to tell today's tale. Music and meditation/prayer time are regular features of our worship services, and we sing a joyful closing song to energize ourselves to go forth and do good works in the world.

We serve refreshments after the service, and offer an all-ages community service or religious education activity at this time. From 11:05-12:00 there is a Corner Forum for adults to discuss ideas from the service, and children and teens are supervised in a related craft or art experience or gather to watch an age-appropriate film that touches on the sermon topic or our mission to bring love, justice, and hope to community and the world. On the second Sunday of each month, we will offer a Family Forum experience for children through adults that weaves together the day's sermon lesson, community service, and learning more about living Unitarian Universalist values in the world together, followed by community lunch and a celebration of the month's birthdays.

We look forward to seeing you Sunday.
